Your donations of food, clothing, and other items are greatly appreciated and help us meet the needs of clients throughout the year.

The Clothes Closet IS accepting donations as follows:

Please remain outside.
Ring the Clothes Closet door bell and someone will come assist you.

We accept donations at our retail site at the following times:

  • Mondays 9:30 am – 12:00 noon
  • Wednesdays 9:30 am – 12:00 noon
  • Fridays 9:30 am – 12:00 noon

At this time, our only off-site donation bin pick-ups are from the Western and Central Goochland County Convenience Centers.

Here’s how to prepare your donations:

  • Package all donations in paper or plastic bags, boxes, or reusable tubs.
  • All donations should be clean and in good repair.
  • All donations should be freshly laundered, wiped down using sanitizer, and packed in safe containers.
  • If you have a large quantity of donations, please call to arrange a drop off time. 804-556-0202.

At this time, our most needed items are:

  • Winter clothing – all sizes
  • Back-to-school clothing and shoes
  • NEW children’s shoes
  • NEW underwear/socks – all ages and sizes
  • NEW washcloths and towels
  • School supplies

Currently, we are NOT able to accept the following:

  • Furniture without prior approval
  • Baby cribs, walkers, bouncy chairs, etc.
  • Exercise equipment

The Food Pantry accepts donations of non-perishable food items and household products like toilet paper and detergent. We also accept fresh garden produce and backyard eggs.
The Food Pantry is currently in need of the following items: soup, canned beans, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat (tuna and chicken), feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, and bar soap. CLICK HERE for Food Pantry donation List.

NOTE: Institutional sizes are difficult for us to manage. Family and individual sized portions are preferred for distribution to our clients and their families.

Food donations come from local residents, grocery stores, neighborhoods, corporate groups, faith organizations, schools, FeedMore, and others.

Receiving hours for Food Pantry donations:
Mondays: 9:00 am – 3:30pm
Tuesdays: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesdays and Thursdays: 9 am – 3:30 pm
Fridays: 9:00 am – 1:30 pm
Saturdays and Sundays: only canned items accepted – drop off bins located at Food Pantry entrance at far end of building.

Medical and Dental

The Free Clinic is currently in need of allergy medications. We accept unopened, non-expired, over-the-counter medications.
Benadryl, Flonase, Sinus Rinse, Mucinex, Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec, etc. Also Tylenol (acetaminophen). Generic or store-brands are fine.

The Clinic also needs: digital thermometers (non-contact, forehead type), finger pulse oximeters, OMRON upper arm blood pressure monitors series 3, masks (surgical, N95, and cloth), non-latex gloves, and vitamins.
The Free Clinic accepts the following donations –  unopened nebulizer masks; handheld nebulizers and tubing; nebulizer machines (new or used); unopened nebulizer filters; unopened packages of insulin needles/syringes all varieties; new or washed hand/wrist splints; finger splints; wheelchairs; walkers; canes; diabetic socks and shoes; unopened wound care supplies such as band-aids, gauze pads, and specialty dressings; toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, and anti-cavity rinse.

Critical Home Repair

Home repair supply needs vary throughout the year depending on clients’ needs. Call to inquire what supplies are currently needed. Gift cards to home supply stores (Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.) are always welcome.

Emergency Housing

Our Emergency Housing program needs sheets, blankets, personal hygiene items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.), and household supplies (dish detergent, sponges, all-purpose cleanser, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.).
